The Oyo State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appealed to politicians across the country to shun politics of do or die.

The union noted that this is necessary to avoid violence, prior, during and after the forthcoming general elections in 2023.

This advice is coming sequel to the nationwide campaign of the Presidential and National Assembly campaign that started today.

The union in its advice enjoined politicians to play the game by the rules.

The union made these disclosures via a communique issued at the end of its September congress held in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The NUJ during the congress presided by its state Chairman, Ademola Babalola appealed to politicians not to take the 2023 general elections as a do-or-die affair, but play the games according to the rules.

The union in the communique also tasked journalists to adhere strictly to all the ethics of the profession.

“The union also enjoined journalists to be truthful, objective and factual in reporting political activities as the 2023 elections draw nearer.

“The private media employers that are in the habit of employing staff without any plan to pay them salaries and other allowances, should stop owing their staff. The hands that work must eat”.
