Clara Ogunbiyi speaks on appointment as Police Commission acting chairman

The Police Service Commission (PSC) acting chairman, Clara Ogunbiyi, has assumed the position.

The selection of the retired Justice followed the resignation of ex-chairman, Musiliu Smith, on health grounds.

Ikechukwu Ani, PSC Head of Public Relations, said President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to approve Ogunbiyi’s nomination.

The spokesman quoted the acting chairman expressing appreciation for the confidence reposed on her.

Ogunbiyi pledged to run an inclusive administration in line with rule of law.

She said the commission deserves the best and vowed to do everything possible to lift the PSC.

“We will do our best by the grace of God and I believe our best will be good enough.”

Smith’s resignation was pursuant to Schedule 2(4) sub-section 2(2) of the PSC Establishment Act.

He was a former Inspector General of Police and Ogunbiyi, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court.
