The Delta State Police Command has claimed responsibility for the commando-style apprehension of the Sapele-Okpe Community Chairman, Egbejule.
The Command confirmed that Egbejule was arrested for attempting to cause “inter-communal” crisis in the area and not kidnapped as the community earlier feared.
Policemen in mufti had stormed the Ogodo Primary School in Ajogodo Area, Sapele, where the said chairman was playing football, shot sporadically like gunmen, and taken him away.
Now, the Command says Egbejule was arrested and not kidnapped.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent.
“He was arrested and not kidnapped. The youth leader was arrested yesterday not kidnapped by policemen from Asaba on allegation of trying to cause inter-communal crises.”
It was learnt that the Police and Soldiers have initiated a joint patrol to calm the situation in Ajogodo Community.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the community Chairman was abducted by gunmen owning to the style of his arrest at Ogodo primary school in Ajogodo, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
