The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has cautioned journalists against being used to destroy the country during or after the 2023 general elections.

MMPN Oyo State chapter gave this warning via a communique issued at the end of its monthly meeting held in Ibadan, the State capital.

MMPN in the communique made available to DAILY POST through its chairman, Alhaji Adebayo Abdur-Rofih, urged media houses and journalists to be objective in their reportage of events before, during and after the election.

The association cautioned that journalists and the media in general should avoid being used to disrupt social order through misinformation and disinformation.

The association said, “MMPN appeals to all stakeholders such as INEC, security agencies, political parties and Nigerians at large to eschew violence, thuggery and hooliganism before, during and after the forthcoming 2023 general election.

“The election must be free, fair and peaceful.

“The Association also urges media houses and journalists to be objective in their reportage of events before, during and after the general election.

“The media should avoid being used to disrupt social order through misinformation and disinformation”.
