The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has commiserated with the people of Bade, Jakusko and other areas affected by floods.

The governor in a statement on Saturday through his Media Aide Mamman Mohammed described the natural disaster as unfortunate and assured the government’s assistance to provide succour to the victims.

Buni also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide the victims with the necessary relief package to cushion their hardships.

He said the state government would liaise with federal agencies including the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to support the victims and complement the efforts of the state government.

“The floods are unprecedented this year, the communities have not seen anything close to this in recent history but the government will do its best and seek support from the federal authority to support our people” he assured.

Governor Buni who had earlier reported the flood to NEMA, commended the Agency for its positive response, assuring to follow up with an updated report, covering more communities severely affected by the floods.

He said the government will also look into proactive measures of providing permanent solutions to check future occurrences.
