Ekiti State journalists have been enjoined to always engage in regular exercise, regular sex, drinking of plenty water and avoid taking alcohol for healthy living.

Dr Opeyemi Abioye from Federal Medical Centre Ido gave the charge during a ‘Health Talk’ organized by NUJ as part of programmes lined up to mark 2022 Press Week at the Union’s secretariat, Ado Ekiti on 7th December 2022.

Dr Abioye said intake of alcohol is inimical to the body, saying journalists should stop taking it. He added that alcohol consumption has no benefit to the body rather it increases the tendency of having high blood pressure and damages organs of the body.

The doctor added that having sexual intercourse three to four times a week is good for the body, saying it helps the heart regulate blood and release endorphins which is essential to the body.

The physician who said he was aware of the herculean task of journalists, however, recommended that they socialize and take good care of their health.

Dr Abioye pointed out that drinking plenty of water, eating fruits and a balanced diet and regularly exercising the body are altogether natural remedies for different ailments.

The health team conducted sugar and blood pressure test and also dished out medical advice to journalists.
