President Buhari claims he is perplexed as to why Nigerians embraced and voted for him despite his lack of wealth.
The president said this on Tuesday, July 13, when he received the report from the House of Representatives’ National Security Summit, which took place on May 26. A group of legislators headed by Femi Gbajabiamila, the lower chamber’s speaker, filed the report.
“No one could purchase or coerce the amount of people that came out to see me, some of them waited for 10 hours in the heat. They were just interested in learning more about Buhari.
People are perplexed as to why Nigerians embrace me despite my lack of wealth. I’m curious as well.
He said, “I felt I just had to serve Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of my abilities.”
The president went on to say that Nigerians are fortunate and should be proud of ourselves despite the difficulties they face.
