The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has recorded 2,889 civil cases from January to September 2022.

NSCDC state commandant, Musa Alhaji Malah, stated this after he led the officers and men of the command to a peace walk across the streets of Dutse, the Jigawa State capital in commemoration of the International Peace Day, 2022.

The theme of this year is “end racism, build peace”.

He said the day was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly aimed at showcasing to the world the significance of peace and peaceful coexistence.

He urged the general public to embrace peace, shun violence, tribal and religious sentiments for peaceful society.

“We have to embrace peace, especially with the general election around the corner. It is mandatory for security personnel to ensure peace reigns,” he said.

He explained that in its effort to build peace in the society, the command has recorded 2,889 civil cases, which include; indebtedness, family related conflicts, farmers/herders clashes, breach of commercial contracts, land and tenancy disputes from January to August 2022.

The commandant also said a total of over 30 million naira was recovered through mediation.
