The state administration has postponed the resumption of classes in Kaduna state indefinitely.
On Monday, June 26, Governor Nasir El-Rufai made the announcement during a stakeholders meeting attended by representatives of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), and other professional and community-based organizations.
According to El-Rufai, the decision was made owing to the state’s continuing strong military campaign against bandits in most areas.
The Governor reiterated that his government is determined to protect vulnerable children from being attacked by fleeing bandits who are already feeling the military’s superior firepower, and warned residents to be vigilant and mindful of unknown faces in their midst as escaping bandits may infiltrate their midst.
