Niger State Government has disbanded the taskforce on the activities of commercial motorcycles in the state with effect from 30th August, 2022 to enhance service delivery to the people.
The Permanent Secretary, state Ministry for Transport, Alh. Yunusa Nahauni, made the disclosure during a meeting with officers of the state Vehicle Licensing Office,VIO, and the Traffic Vanguard in Minna.
According to Nahauni, in view of this, the activities of the taskforce would now be administered by the VIO and the Traffic Vanguard in the state.
He explained that the decision was taken to enable the ministry to effect some changes that include repositioning and deploying staff of the Niger State Transport Agency, to ensure effective service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary noted that the measure has become necessary in order to enhance effective transportation services free from duplication of responsibility during operation.
Nahauni also directed the NITMA to extend its duty to 24 hours on road to checkmate traffic violation and vehicles movement.
