The Owarisa Obokun, Ilowa-Ijesa, Oba Adebukola Alli has said knowing the origin of insecurity that has engulfed the country is essential to solving it.

Oba Alli made this known on Friday at Ilowa-Ijesa in an address as part of activities for the annual Owa Festival.

Represented by Chief Festus Odunayo Ojo, Lejoka of Ilowa, the monarch held that the country may continue to experience harder times until the secret behind the peaceful living by African forefathers are examined.

According to him, “During the days of our fathers, how were they living together peacefully and where did we miss it that things are the way they are now?

“They all come together and made the most qualified ones leaders. The elderly ones now should tell us why it was peaceful at the time? What was obtainable at the time and how they did it? The younger generation should meet with the elderly ones and mediate on the solutions.”

Osun State which has been ranked one of the most peaceful states in the country in the past months have been having security challenges in recent times

Frustrated residents have blamed the problem on the failure of the government and the political class.

Prior to the 2022 election, there were pockets of violence and unidentified gunmen attacking selected targets.

They were also cases of cult activities on the rise, especially in Osogbo, the state capital.

Ok Friday night at Owode-Ede, the convoy of the Osun First Lady, Kafayat Oyetola was attacked by angry commercial motorcyclists who accused security personnel attached to her of viciously beating a truck driver whose truck broke down earlier on the road.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of orchestrating the attack while the PDP denied the allegation.

Also, on Saturday, the Apomu branch chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kazeem Alli was abducted after he was also viciously attacked with a machete.

His abductors have contacted his family and demanded N15 million ransom.

Early in the week, the Gbongan Branch of the NURTW was also attacked by another rival union gang and several members were injured.

In these cases, the Osun State Police Command has effected arrests according to Yemisi Opalola, the Command spokesperson.
