The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council has inaugurated an electoral committee ahead of the NUJ election in December.

DAILY POST reports that the committee was inaugurated on Wednesday.

The five-man electoral committee credential/screening committee was adopted at the congress of the union held in Ibadan.

The committee has been saddled with the responsibility of organising a hitch-free election for the union in December this year.

DAILY POST reports that the committee members who were unanimously nominated by the congress were subsequently adopted by all members present.

The names of the committee members have been forwarded to the National Secretariat for ratification.

Members of the committee included Dupe Fehintola of the BCOS Chapel while Nurudeen Alimi of the Nigerian Tribune will serve as secretary.

Other members of the committee are Remi Afonja of NTA Chapel, Temilola Akarah of the Information Chapel and Khalid Imran of the Oke-Ogun Federated Chapel will serve as members.

A trustee of the national body of NUJ, Mr Bayo Akamo, while inaugurating the electoral committee called on members of the committee to discharge their duties without bias.

He added that their appointment was a true test of their integrity which must not for whatever reason be dented

The NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola in his remarks, urged members of the committee to be diligent while carrying out the task before them.

He explained that all eyes are now on the committee to conduct a credible, free and fair election.
