Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar said the brutal murder of Sheikh Goni Aisami by some serving military men is a reflection of the depth of decay in a society that has lost respect for human life and dignity.
Atiku stated this in a short Facebook post while reacting to the murder of the cleric, describing it as brutal.
He, on behalf of his family, commiserated with the family of Sheikh Aisami, and prayed to Allah to console them.
“I am saddened by the news of the brutal murder of Sheikh Goni Aisami by culprits suspected to be serving military men. His death reflects the depth of decay in our society at present that has lost respect for human life and dignity .
“On behalf of my family, I wish to commiserate with the family of Sheikh Aisami, and I pray to Allah to console them”, he posted.
Atiku Abubakar is the latest political figure in the country to condemn the killing of Yobe’s renowned Islamic cleric, Goni Aisami.
The incident that led to the cleric’s death has continued to draw condemnations, with calls to speedily dispense justice.
