Toyota, a Japanese multinational automaker, has bypassed Nigeria in favour of Ghana, where it has established an assembly facility.
The Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing Company Limited constructed the facility in the Freezones Enclave in Tema to assemble Toyota Hilux pick-up trucks and other cars.
Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo officially opened the facility yesterday (Tuesday, June 29, 2021), stating that it will help make the purchasing of new automobiles more accessible for Ghanaians, as well as allow public sector workers to buy and acquire locally built vehicles.
