Encomium flowed freely as the pioneer Provost of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Prof Olurotimi Sanya bowed out of the academic world.
Those who spoke glowingly about Prof Sanya, included his colleagues, students and other well-wishers present at the event.
Prof Sanya, who pioneered the college, was pronounced Provost in 2014.
Speakers at the programme took time to x-ray his input during his stint, describing him as a man fit for the job.
Prof Abiodun Ojo and Prof Oladimeji congratulated the medical icon, saying that his contributions to ensure that the college became a force to reckon with could not be forgotten in a hurry.
Similarly, Mrs Elizabeth Ojo, Taiwo Olukorode and a representative of the students, eulogized Prof Sanya and thanked him for all he did in the college.
Responding, Prof Sanya, who is also a pastor, thanked the gathering for the tributes showered on him, saying that their testimonies were a reflection that he had played his part in the college.
He attributed his success to their support and cooperation and urged them to extend the same to the incumbent provost.
Prof Rotimi Sanya joined the university system in 2011 after he voluntarily retired as the Chief Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital, Ikere Ekiti in 2007.
