Zamfara House commends Matawalle over cash transfer

The Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, has described the monthly unconditional cash transfer introduced by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle as a catalyst against insecurity and abject poverty in the State.

The Speaker disclosed this to newsmen in the state while commenting on the program, saying that it would take care of the multidimensional socio-economic challenges among the less privileged and vulnerable ones in the state.

He commended the Governor for the brilliant strategies to pull the people out of the serious security challenges and abject poverty ravaging the entire state.

“In addition to the strong institutionalisation of social protection by assenting to the child protection, social protection, and disability laws recently passed by the state House of Assembly, the Governor has proved to be a good leader,” he said.

The Speaker also appealed to the electorates in the state to support all government programmes, advising those responsible for the implementation of the new cash transfer programme at different levels to put the fear of Allah while providing the list of beneficiaries.

”Proper coordination and effective targeting mechanism should guide the process for it to succeed,” he advised.”

According to him, the monthly cash transfer of N10,000 to 50 beneficiaries from each of the 147 wards in the state.

Hon. Magarya noted that another N20,000 to over 8,000 poor and vulnerable, which is to be manned by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, will cover over 15,000 beneficiaries in the state monthly.

The Speaker, who spoke through the Director General, Press Affair, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Malam Nasiru Usman Biya Biki, further stated that the gesture kind gesture would promote inclusive governance, thereby promoting human capital development and life of dignity among the citizenry.

“In addition to other supports under the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, ZAKKAT, ZSIP, ZAPA, ZAMCHEMA, health and education wavers among others.”
